Antoine Pierre, born on June 12th, 1936 in Cap-Haitien, Haiti to Lucretia Pierre and Michel Bernard, passed away at home surrounded by the love of his wife, children, children-in-law, and grandchildren on Sunday December 5th, 2021 at 4:36pm. He succumbed to a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
Tony, as he was known by all, grew up with his mother, aunts, and the oldest of a host of cousins. He was a soccer lover and enjoyed watching games at home, just as much as he loved playing the sport as a young boy. He was well-spoken, being able to speak French, Haitian Creole, Spanish, Congolese, and of course English. Tony was well-traveled and met his wife through her sister, while he lived in Zaire (currently known as The Democratic Republic of the Congo).
One letter led to a fifty-two-year marriage, four children, and six grandchildren.
Tony is survived by his wife Rolande Romulus Pierre, his children Jude-Farley Pierre, Nadja Pierre-Charlemagne, Nedjie Pierre-Bailey, and Clidege Pierre, his children-in-law, Nidia M Pierre, Donovan Charlemagne, and Christopher Bailey, his grandchildren, Nehemiah Pierre, Nyla Charlemagne, Jael Pierre, Dana Charlemagne, Cara Bailey, and Jonah Pierre, his brother Louis Mary Paul and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Lord, make me an instrument of Thy Peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master; grant that I
may not so much seek to be consoled,
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
