Eugene Ortiz

Eugene “Gino” Ortiz, 49, of Spring Hill, Florida went home peacefully to be with the Lord surrounded by his family on Monday, September 22, 2014. He was born on December 30, 1964 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Ramon and Luz Ortiz. He married Kimetta Rosemond on January 2, 1989. They have been married for 25 wonderful years. In his 49 years, Gino was a successful member of the teaching and financial industry. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a Commissioned Officer in the Army National Guard. He was a successful business owner and Regional Vice President with Primerica Financial Services. He spent many years as a Marketing teacher at Central High School. Most recently, he was an Assistant Vice President – Banking Center Manager with Bank of America. He is survived by his wife Kimetta and son Matthew, his mom and dad, 3 brothers, and 4 sisters, and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Gino served his church, Grace World Outreach Church, faithfully for 10 years. He enthusiastically served as Treasurer of the Trustee Council and the Finance Committee, where his expertise as a financial advisor was well received. He exemplified godly wisdom & leadership, always willing to go the extra mile. He also taught Crown Financial classes, the Men's Sunday Bible Class as well as the G-Men Ministry. In addition to his involvement in the local churh, Gino served the Peninsular District Council of the Assemblies of God as the Men's Rep of Section 7, where he coordinated Men's ministry activities for several churches. Gino also served the business community as the liaison with the Leadership Simulcast broadcast the last few years at Grace World Outreach Church. Of special mention, Gino served as Pastor Garcia's prayer partner and confidant where his love and discernment will be highly missed. Gino was truly an example of a Maximized Man with high Christ likeness. He will be missed as a leader, mentor, spiritual dad, and friend to many in the Tampa Bay Area. His words of wisdom would be to always put God first in everything you do and love and honor your family to no end. He would say to be an ACTIVE participant in all things of the Lord. Leave your mark on your community. He would tell you to ask yourself – if you were not here tomorrow would your community, your family and your friends know that you were gone? What impact would you have on them? Whatever your answer, God has given you time to write your story any way you would like. Life is short, oh so short, do it now…don’t let a day go by without leaving your mark. No matter how small or simple you may think it is…it is still yours.
