Gaston Bruno Charbonneau, 91, of Brooksville, FL survived by his loving wife of 13 years Henrietta (St. Martin/Liedke) Charbonneau, passed away on May 11, 2020.
Known as Gus to all who knew and loved him. He was born in New Bedford, MA on November 11, 1928, eldest child of the late Bruno and Therese (Dumas) Charbonneau. He was a communicant of St.Frances Cabrini Church, Spring Hill, FL. and formerly of St. Mary Church in New Bedford, MA. He attended St. Joseph Parochial School in New Bedford, MA, Assumption Prep. and Assumption College in Worcester, MA where he received an AB degree in Liberal Arts. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War serving time overseas in France. Upon his return he trained and served as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at St. Luke’s Hospital and later headed the Medical Laboratory at Union Hospital, New Bedford, MA working there 13 years. His career switched to Real Estate where he owned and managed many rental properties, several of which were absorbed during the Urban Renewal Era in New Bedford. He later worked and managed the HR Block Tax Preparation Office at Sears Roebuck & Co, Dartmouth, MA. Gus was also owner/operator of Canadian Brand Foods and distributed maple butter to local markets in the Greater Massachusetts area.
Gaston was a loving father, husband and older brother, he was also an extremely proud grandfather.
His family was his pride and joy and he loved collecting coins and spending time with his loved ones.
He is survived by 4 children, daughters: Joanne (Frederick) Gonet of Sarasota, FL. and Nicole Martin of Spring Hill, FL.; sons: Claude (Charlene Dalton) Charbonneau of Lawrence, MA and Daniel (Elena Petrovna/Razznivna) Charbonneau of New Bedford, MA. Grandchildren: Jessica, Jarred, Melissa, Kathleen,Jaclyn,Nicholas, Sarah;great-grandchildren Kaleigh, Travis, Noah, Colton, Twyla, Hannah, Hunter, Jaidyn, Daxxton. A sister Janine Budesheim of Averill Park, NY, and brother Maurice Charbonneau of New Bedford, MA; brother-in-law J. Herve Arsenault of Pompano Beach, FL; sister-in-law Patria Charbonneau of East Freetown, MA. He was predeceased by sister Rachelle Arsenault of Pompano Beach, FL; brothers Leon Charbonneau, of Winterhaven, FL; Rene Charbonneau of East Freetown, MA and grandson Louis Martin of Dartmouth, MA. He is also predeceased by his 2 former wives: Rejane (Monty) Charbonneau and Lucille (St. Gelais/ St Amand) Charbonneau, both of New Bedford, MA. Also, he is survived by stepchildren and their families, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in New Bedford, MA. later in the year.
