George Joseph Nelson Jr.

George Joseph Nelson, 70,  passed away peacefully at Tampa General Hospital on September 20, 2023.

George was born on November 24, 1952 in southern New Jersey. He was the oldest of 3 brothers and a member of the track team at Edgewood High School. George graduated from Trenton State College and traveled the world, living in Australia and Hawaii before coming back to the US to continue his long, rewarding career as a teacher at Hopewell Valley Regional School District in Pennington, NJ. In 1990 he received the Governor’s Teacher Award.

In 2016, George married P. J. together, they enjoyed traveling, spending time together and taking their dog, Gigi, for rides in their golf cart. George loved meeting new people and could always put a smile on your face.  He loved going to music festivals, playing golf and was usually the first one on the dance floor. He was a loving, caring husband, fun-loving father and friend.

George is survived by his wife, P. J. and his 2 daughters, Cindy and Tricia. He is also survived by his two brothers, Gary and Bruce.
