With profound sadness, the family of Gerald Lee Bergman Nielsen Sr. of Spring Hill announces his peaceful passing on December 16th at the age of 78 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Lynn; children: Lauren Fulton (John), Craig Nielsen (Michelle), and Gerald Nielsen Jr. (Victoria); grandchildren: Logan, Peyton, Tre’Jon, Bryce, Morgan, Tyler, Thorin, and Riley; and his sisters: Elaine Merrell, Doris Nielsen, and Phyllis Garrett.
He was predeceased by his brother, James Nielsen, sister, Janet McDougall, and his parents, George and Alicia Nielsen.
Gerald was born in Staten Island, New York, on May 7, 1943. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and received an honorable discharge. He later became an electrician and was a retired member of IBEW Local 1205 in Gainesville, FL. Before moving to Florida, he was an active member and volunteer of the Newberry County Humane Society in South Carolina. His hobbies included fishing, boating, and building model railroads as a Citrus Model Railroad Club member.
At Gerald’s request, no service will be held.
