Gloria Deloris (Heller) Byrtek of Spring Hill, Florida passed away at her home on April 13, 2023. She was 94 at the time of her death.
Gloria was born on December 18, 1928, to the parents of Margaret and Earl Heller in Soperton, Wisconsin. The family moved to Antigo, Wisconsin, where she attended high school. It was in her senior year she became engaged and married George W. Byrtek on June 28, 1947. They raised a loving family of seven children in Grafton, Wisconsin. Gloria and George retired to Spring Hill Florida in 1982. George passed away November 9, 2000 after 53 years of marriage.
Throughout her life she has been high energy and fast-paced. She was an accomplished seamstress, woodcarver and painter. Her passions included dancing, gardening, reading mystery novels, visiting family and cruising through the islands of the Caribbean. As a loving grandparent, she cherished and celebrated each of her 21 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Her social life included making strong connections with neighbors and friends. After more than a decade of exploring the world on her terms, she met Herbie Robinson. Together they formed a very close, loving and mutually supportive relationship and became life partners. The two ventured forth, attending dances, socializing at the VFW, Marine Club and dining at local restaurants. Herbie was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, and as a result, in her eighties Gloria became a Harley riding grandma.
Gloria is survived by seven children, son George J. Byrtek (Meg); six daughters Linda (John) Yarmark, Mary (Dan) Vernon, Diane Baur, Krista Glynn (Mitch Stage), Cheryl (William) Morrison, and Patricia Blowers, and Gloria’s life partner Herbie Robinson. Gloria has one surviving sibling, Jacqueline Larson, Waterford, Wisconsin.
