Gwen Mann
May 21, 1955 - January 25, 2022
Gwen Mann was an incredibly beautiful, intelligent, and inspiring woman. As I sit here thinking about her I am overcome with just how remarkable she truly was. My mother had the biggest heart and showed so much love and compassion throughout her life.
Gwen was born in Milton, New York to Albert Trautman and Millicent Trautman (Cosman). Her older sister, Carole, and her younger brother, Albert, still reside in Milton on the farm where my mother’s family grew up. I believe her life surrounded by animals and an abundance of family is perhaps what really ignited my mother’s incredible capacity for love.
Gwen made friends wherever she would go. I’m sure all of you reading this can attest to the fact that my mom was a social butterfly, especially in her youth. She was impossible not to like.
Of course, the greatest love of all for my mother was her dogs. Gwen has rescued an unbelievable number of dogs from Golden Retrievers, to Pomeranians, to her crazy Cocker Spaniel. It was her calling in life to show these animals what a home could really feel like, and she did an amazing job.
I am so lucky to have had Gwen as my mother. I was her life, her whole heart. She made sure that I knew it every day. While being without her now is the most unbearable thing in the world, I think it’s very important that we all remember just how fortunate we are to have had her touch our lives in the very first place.
Gwen Mann is survived by her sister Carole Lazaroff, her brother Albert Trautman, her sister-cousin Marcy Atheney, and her daughter Gabrielle Mann.
A memorial service is being held at Pinecrest Funeral Chapel, Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 11a.m. The family will receive visitors from 10-11.
