Brooksville, FL - Helen Fay (Bindon) Knudsen passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on April 11th, 2022. Born in Newport, RI to the late Wilfred and Julia (Souza) Bindon, Helen was an avid golfer and served the Brookridge community in a number of capacities. A longtime volunteer for the Hernando County SPCA, her love of animals, especially dogs, was almost legendary.
Before retiring to Florida, Helen was a teller for Braintree Cooperative Bank in Massachusetts and was, of course, a devoted Boston Red Sox fan throughout her life.
Helen was predeceased by her former husband, Carl V. Swanson, her son Carl V. Swanson, Jr., subsequent husband, Nathaniel Hughson, and her husband, Carl C. Knudsen, Jr. She leaves behind her daughter, Cheryl A. Coughlin and her husband Rick, Robert N. Swanson, and Mark Swanson and his wife, Sandra. She also leaves four grandchildren, Jaime (Coughlin) Maher, Timothy Coughlin, Jennifer Swanson, and Stephen Swanson along with four great-grandchildren, Elias, Ezra, Jackson, and Silas. Internment at Bushnell National Cemetery will be a private, graveside ceremony, however donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the Hernando County Department of Veterans Services, 621 W Jefferson Street, Brooksville, FL 34601.
