Hugh Allen Markin, 84, completed his earthly journey on January 16, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. Hugh was born in Shideler, Indiana on January 26, 1939 to James Arthur and Doris Mae Milligan Markin.
Hugh was a life long builder, designer, and consultant in the post frame building industry. He invented, patented, and sold a construction machine called the Framer. He flew as an instrument rated, private pilot for 50 years. Although he lived in many different states, he was active in church and in church leadership roles. He was a talented artist and story teller and loved telling humorous and emotional stories of his adventures. He was a library of information and experiences and loved to share with his family and friends. In his retirement, he enjoyed encouraging others by reaching out and giving compassion and showing empathy.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Judith (Judy) Dutro Markin, his daughters Lisa (Steve) Scrivener and Amy (Tim) Ryan, and his daughter-in-law Brenda (Rule) Markin. He had nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, two nieces, and two nephews. Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Brian Allen, his brothers, Wayne Lee and David Arthur.
Hugh’s Celebration of Life will be held on his birthday, January 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Spring Hill, Florida.
