Iris Mirtha Gonzalez was born on February 21, 1960 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico to Milagros Matta and Hector Luis Gonzalez. They eventually moved to Long Island, New York, where she went to school and worked in manufacturing plants. In October 1992, she was injured in a work related accident and became permanently disabled. In 1996, she moved to Spring Hill, Florida along with her mother and stepfather, Luis A. Rodriguez. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Ricardo and Marie Gonzalez and their daughter, Alexandria, of Colorado Springs, CO. Iris is also survived by her best friend, Dora J. Hutson and her husband, Daniel W. Hutson, Sr. and family members, Heather, Sammi, Jarred, Derek, Vanessa, Tatiana and Rayjohn, all of Spring Hill, and close family friend, Theodora Aldarado of Staten Island, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather. Iris enjoyed playing cards, games, going to bingo and being out on the water watching the dolphins. She is being cremated, according to her wishes, and a memorial service will be conducted Sunday, April 14th at 6:00PM at Pinecrest Funeral Chapel, Mariner Boulevard, with Father Edison Bernavas from St. Theresa Catholic Church officiating.
