James Denton, 96, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away Dec 07 2016. Mr Denton was veteran of WW2 who served honorably with the Eighth Air Force as a bomb sight tech in England. He was married to his wife Virginia for 56 years and they raised 3 children. Mr. Denton retired from the phone company in Columbus Ohio in 1981 after 35 years. He and his wife retired to Florida in 1982 and settled in Brooksville. They were active members in the community creating a non-profit “Compassion Spay and Neuter” helping pet owners to spay and neuter their pets.
Jim was a good friend and neighbor, someone who would give you the shirt off his back. A real gentleman. He always had something nice to say. Mr Denton was Catholic, a member of Saint Anthony the Abbot Catholic Church. He is survived by his three children, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and his wonderful dog Maggie.
A Memorial Mass is scheduled for Friday, December 16, 10:30AM at St. Anthony the Abbot Catholic Church in Brooksville. Inurnment in Florida National Cemetery will follow with military honors by the Marine Corps League #708.
