James Thomas Olstrom

James Thomas Olstrom passed on May 26, 2020 at his home in Spring Hill, Florida after a long and courageous battle against cancer. He was 74 years of age. Known by Jim or Jimmy to his friends and family, Jim lived most of his life in New York. He grew up in Rockaway, NY. He attended Far Rockaway High School and spent most of his career as a Dock builder Foreman with Marco Enterprise. Jim was a proud member of Local Union 1456. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Linda, his son James Jr. and his wife Jennifer, his daughters Kelly-Ann and Stacey and his ten grandchildren, James, Robert, Linda, William, Mathew, Brianna, Ryan, David, Samantha, and Allison. His sisters, Joan Heaney, Florence O'Kane and Theresa Fay. He is predeceased by his mother, Florence, brothers, Robert, Edward and Richard and sister Patricia. Jim was a devoted husband, father and provider to his family. He was beloved by all and at ease interacting with people from all walks of life. He would always help people see the bright side in any situation. Jim had a warm smile and a knack for listening and understanding others and he was the ultimate do-it-yourselfer who could tackle any project. He taught others how to fix cars, lawn equipment and other things around the house. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and spending his time with his family. Jim was privately memorialized and cremated in Florida. His family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date to properly honor his memory and share their thoughts and love of him. Jim left a lasting mark on his family and be forever loved, missed and never forgotten. Jim and his family support St. Jude and the fight against childhood cancers.
