James Richard Weixler

James (Jim) Weixler, 75, of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on August 26,2023 after a short battle with cancer with his family by his side.

Jim was born on April 13, 1948 to the late Robert and Jean Weixler in Louisville, KY.  After Jim graduated from Western High School, he went on to a pipefitter apprenticeship while working at Ward Engineering – beginning a 45 year career as a pipefitter/project manager.

Jim moved to Florida after vacationing there and falling in love with it.  Soon after moving there, Dorothy followed him and they were together from then until her death in 2016.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Jean Weixler, his wife Dorothy Weixler, brother Robert, and sister Vicki. He is survived by his daughters Kathleen (Dale) Line of Crestwood, KY; and Stephanie (Richard) Root of Crestwood, KY, grandchildren Meredith Line, Duncan Line, Spencer Root and Parker Root, sister June (Bill) Mohns, brother Chris (Pam) Weixler and brother Mike (Diane) Weixler.  He also leaves behind his best friend and faithful companion, his dog, Skye.

There will not be a formal service.  Jim and Dorothy loved the beach and ocean so their ashes will be spread there together by the family per their wishes. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
