Majel Slade

April 15, 1936 — November 21, 2023

Weeki Wachee

A wonderful mother and a lady dear to her family and friends, Majel H. Slade left her earthly body November 21, 2023, at the age of eighty-seven.

Majel was born April 15, 1936, and raised in Plant City, FL. After graduating high school, she attended Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She was a member of the FSU Circus and a member of Tri Delta sorority. She later earned her master’s degree at the University of Alabama.

Majel married and had three children. She lived most of her life in Meridian, Mississippi, where she raised her children and taught elementary school. She was a devoted member of Central United Methodist Church and sang in the choir for many years.

Majel loved to travel and was willing to try anything. She was a Master Gardner and loved to dance! She took dance classes regularly and met with her friends to watch Dancing with the Stars. She enjoyed exercise, taking daily power walks and yoga. Finding happiness in her daily routines and activities was gratifying to Majel. She was thoughtful, honest and had no problem speaking up for herself. She said, “When I’m gone, don’t tell people how great I was; tell them how blessed I was to have such a wonderful family and friends.”

Majel is survived by her three children Nancy Everidge (Billy), Tom Slade (Delita) Jack Slade (Marsha); sisters Sally Boshell, Tura Carter (Chuck); six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Central United Methodist Church Sanctuary Choir: PO Box 1706 Meridian, MS 39302
