Fowler, Elizabeth (Smith) Fowler, 64, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 15, 2019 in Spring Hill, FL. Marilyn was born on August 31, 1954 in East Hartford, Connecticut to the late Nielan and Dorothy Smith. She graduated from George J. Penney High School in 1973. From there, Marilyn completed secretarial training at Manchester Community College, and then worked at the federal General Accounting Office (GAO) in Washington, DC from the mid to late 1970s. While she was there, she met and married the late Kevin M. Cornelius. They had three wonderful children: Amy Lynne (Justin) Collins, Allison Marie Cornelius, and Michael David (Chelsey) Cornelius before they divorced in 1995.
After GAO, Marilyn worked for Aetna Life and Casualty Company until the birth of her daughter Allison in 1985. Allison was born with Downs Syndrome and Marilyn dedicated her life to the care of and advocacy of Allison and all children with special needs. After her divorce, Marilyn worked for various bus companies as a school bus driver for South Windsor Public Schools. She retired in 2016, after 20 years of dedicated service. In 2002, Marilyn met the love of her life, Gary Fowler, and they married in October 2003. They, along with Allison, recently moved from East Hartford to Spring Hill, FL.
Besides her husband Gary, and her children Amy, Alison, and Michael, Marilyn also leaves behind two stepdaughters Trisha Jean (Marci) Triplett and Sarah Lee (James) Colitti, as well as several grandchildren.
Marilyn will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held from 3 PM to 5 PM on Thursday, June 20. 2019 at Pinecrest Funeral Chapel, 3369 Mariner Blvd, Spring Hill. Following the service, there will be a buffet from 6 PM to 10 PM at R Beach Seafood Restaurant, 4054 Shoal Line Blvd, Hernando Beach. All are welcome to come celebrate her life with her friends and family. Burial will be at a later date next to her parents in Rose Hill Cemetery, Rocky Hill, CT.
