Marjorie Irene Hill (nee Stansfield), 89, passed away Sunday, Nov, 30, 2014, her children Alfred Leverett Jr. and Kathryn Marie Hackett (nee Hill) by her side. She was born Oct. 3, 1925 in Hackensack, N.J., the daughter of John and Mary Anne "Mamie" Stansfield. She grew up and raised a family in Bergen County, N.J., moved to Clearwater, Fla. in 1972, and moved to The Heather in 1979. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Trudy and Betty, brother Alfred, and husband Alfred L. Hill, Sr.
Marge, as she was known to her many friends and associates, spent nearly 20 years in the Hernando County real estate business, having worked for Alice Moore Real Estate and Hernando Beach Realty. Her signs dotted properties from Hernando Beach to Royal Highlands and all points between, and she crossed paths with and befriended many people in the county. Before her adventures in real estate, she single-handedly raised two teenage sons — Michael Frederick and Timothy James — after the death of her husband Alfred in 1980.
A fun-loving, light-hearted, and generous woman, Marge was always ready with a joke or helping hand. She loved working in real estate because it gave her the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and every corner of the county. Having lived in The Heather for 35 years, she was well known and liked by many residents. In recent years, as she struggled with health issues, she stayed positive and hopeful. She kept up her love of bingo at The Heather clubhouse, and enjoyed spending time with her friends. But her first love was her family and her four children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored tremendously.
She is survived by adult children Al (wife Vi), Kathy (husband Don Hackett), Tim (wife Suzanne Southard), and Mike (wife Vicky); grandchildren Jennifer, Justin (wife Kelly), Greg (wife Elicia), Danny (wife Nikki), Owen, and Carly; great-grandchildren Chase, Isabella, Abigale, Ethan, Payton, Mason, Logan, and Sawyer.
Marge and her family were cared for by Sturgill Hospice Care Center in Brooksville and her end-of-life care was adminstered with great compassion at Diana's Home, 11386 Callaghan Ave., Spring Hill, FL, 34608. In lieu of flowers her family asks that donations be made to Sturgill Hospice, a hospice of your choice, or a charity of your choice.
A celebration of Marge's life will be held Dec. 21, 2014, 3:30-5:30 p.m. at The Heather Community Center, 9100 Nakoma Way, Weeki Wachee, Fla. 34613.
