Orpha M. Bowen, 89, of Spring Hill, Florida passed away December 13, 2016. She was born on May 28, 1927 in Olanchito, Honduras to Maria M. de Zuniga and Juan E. Zuniga. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Curtis G. Bowen, Jr., her parents, and her brothers Juan, Adalberto, and Humberto Zuniga.
Orpha met her husband, Curtis, while he was a Baptist missionary in Honduras. They continued their service to their Lord when they moved from Honduras to Florida. Orpha served alongside Curtis in the churches he pastored. After Curtis retired, she worked cooking and serving meals at an elder care center for several years in Pasco County.
Orpha enjoyed knitting blankets and crafting quilts for her family. She also had great joy tending to the roses that graced her front yard.
She is survived by her three children, daughter Margi Henson (Ron), son George Bowen (Donna Smith), and son Curtis "Pete" Bowen, III.
Orpha, also known as Abuela, delighted in the success of her two grandchildren Brett Henson (Lisa) and Brittany Henson, and she was thrilled to be a great grandmother to Julia and William.
She is survived by two brothers, Jeremias and Rigoberto Zuniga and three sisters, Orfilia Navarette, Raymunda de Flores, and Ruth Zuniga.
A private graveside service was held on December 15, 2016 in Spring Hill, Florida.
