Robert Garcia

Garcia, Robert, 78, Spring Hill, passed July 19, 2018. Mr. Gracia was born to Mario and Gloria (nee Cartogena) Garcia on May 13, 1940 in Manhattan, New York. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. Robert enjoyed Camping, going to the beach, and reading the New York Post while drinking his morning coffee. He was also known for caring for and sometimes "rehoming" stray cats and dogs. Mr. Garcia loved the New York Yankees, New York Giants, scratch off tickets, and watching the Discovery and History channels. He was also once awarded for heroism after rescuing an individual from a fire. Mr. Garcia is survived by his wife of 35 years, Gloria (nee Acevedo); sons: David Garcia and Robert Garcia, Jr; daughters: Jennifer Malpica (Talisa Arnold), Leila Person (Jeffrey), Tina Garcia-Cordner, and Marlena McLaughlin (Charlie); brothers: Richard (Mary Ellen), Eddie (Carmen), Henry (Maritza), and Michael; sister: Mildred Irrizary (Charles); step-brother: Michael (Geannie); 23 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Ann Dowton. friends may call on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, from 9:00 AM up to the time of the service at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
