Teresa L. Kahle (aka "Teri" ), 69, of Springhill, FL, took her final breath on October 03, 2024. She lived & struggled with the symptoms of M.S. most of her adult life, and more recently, succumbed to complications with breast cancer. Most called her Teri, others called her "Teri'Teri" - whatever you called her, please take a moment to reflect on her life as we say our final goodbyes.
Teri was born on March 25, 1955 to Bill & Betty Kahle in Forest Park, OH. She was the oldest of 9 children, as she grew up she helped care for all of her brothers and sisters. She took Catholic instruction at Our Lady of the Rosary and went to Forest Park High School. From youth, she was a free spirit with a big heart! One of her siblings recalls, as a teen, "Teri really wanted bell bottoms so she decided to split the seams on her pants to make her own! And, she later hitch hiked to Woodstock in 1969 where she developed a deep love for music and finally found her hippie tribe!"
Nearing adulthood, Teri left home and welcomed her first born daughter. Then she gave birth to 4 more girls! Through a series of events, she was also blessed with 3 "bonus" children, all of her children, collectively, brought 22 beautiful grandchildren into the world. Motherhood brought a whirlwind of changes & challenges for Teri. It wasn't easy and she may not have always gotten it "right" but she kept moving forward. Her children grew up to have children of their own. Whether by influence or genetics, Teri passed her free-spirited thinking & ingenuity down to all of them.
She loved Jesus & her family, she loved the Cincinnati Bengals and she would jump at the chance to ride on the back of a Harley, anyday! She was a long-time member of the biker community & the female Harley Riders. She could always be found wearing a bandana, or a leather jacket, or a Harley T. She even had a tattoo of a camera on her leg, where in the lens was the reflection of a rider on the highway! She was a collector of many earthly treasures - from pictures, to flowers, to figurines, she had an eclectic boho kind of style. She also grew her hair long, many times, to cut it off as a donation to Locks of Love.
Teri loved dancing and singing and would often take her children to The Serpentine Wall to listen to live music on the lawn. As you read this you may hear an echo of her voice singing "you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes...you get what you need", which she regularly quoted from one of her favorite bands - The Rolling Stones. Teri was a rolling stone. She weathered the storms and still kept rolling through. She experienced many struggles throughout her life yet she found the strength to laugh and have fun. She was feisty and resilient, she got back up each time life knocked her down.
She always said thanks to God even when she was sad or angry. She was a person who fully believed that she would spend eternity in Heaven and she never missed a moment to share her belief with anyone who would listen. She would always say "I ain't perfect, but I know Jesus loves me and He forgives me".
Teri spent her remaining years in Florida surrounded by her friends who were there for her until the very end. One of her dear friends describes her as "a person who's heart was almost too big for her petite self". Through her ability to instantly connect with people, Teri built a strong and loyal community of friends along her journey - friends who became family. In her passing, she wasn't able to say goodbye to many of her friends. Just know if she called you a friend, you impacted her life in a positive way and she was honored to know you!
Teri was preceded in death by both of her parents & her oldest daughter Cynthia. She is survived by her brothers & sisters; Bill (Sue), Patricia, David, Steve (Tammy), Beth (Ken), Julie (Rick), Tom & Tina (late, Don), her daughters; Cestiny, Shawna, Cerissa & Shelly (Harley) and many other loved ones.
