Velma Meechan

Velma Meechan, 88, of Spring Hill, Florida passed on August 22, 2013. She was born in Canton, Ohio to the late Oscar Glen and Cora Lee (nee Starkey) Harriman. She was a Methodist by faith and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hudson. She enjoyed painting China, playing golf, music and shopping. She was described as witty with a great sense of humor and a loving family member and friend. She is survived by her loving daughter Marilyn (William) McFarland of Perrysburg, Ohio; her beloved sister Betty Quass of Hudson, Florida; 2 grandchildren: Brandon (Carrie) McFarland of McKinney, Texas and Emily McFarland of Cincinnati, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh in 2006. A service celebrating Velma's life will be held on September 27 at the First United Methodist Church at 10:30 AM. She will be laid to rest with her late husband Hugh at Florida National Cemetery on that same day at 2:00 PM.
