Vincent Salvator Barber

BARBER, Vincent Salvator passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his wife at his home in Brooksville, Florida on April 11, 2025.

Vince was born on April 3, 1932 in Chicago, IL

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Cheryl Jean, daughters Victoria (Jane) Barber, Laura (Robert) Gjerde and son, Vincent (Nancy) Barber, brother, Frank Paul Barber, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two sisters, Tura Angsten and Rosemary Sarangelo.

Vince had a very full life of many interesting careers. After returning home from serving his country in the Korean War, he began working at the Jewel Food Store in Chicago, IL where he excelled to become a dairy manager. His love of horses was strong and after retiring from Jewel Food Store, he began to embark on his horse trainer and horseback riding instructor careers, which would continue throughout the rest of is life. During the years that he lived in Miami, FL, he would be a supervisor at Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and Norwegian Cruise Lines. His next career in Miami would be a transportation supervisor for Academy Bus Lines where he would coordinate all the bus drivers to pick up and drop off passengers to their cruise ships from the Miami Intl Airport. in 2018, he retired from Academy Bus Lines to move to his dream home in Brooksville, Florida. There he and his wife would acquire and raise many loving horses, cows including a Scottish Highland Bull, donkeys, and a white mule named Henley and his two favorite dogs, Ginger and Cupid. He loved to spend his days riding around on his John Deere lawnmower checking out every corner of the property to see what needed fixing. He enjoyed spending his days letting his horses out each day and enjoying the beautiful Florida sunshine with his wife and their wonderful farm animals. Anything that needed to be done - He got it done!! No task was to Big for Vince!!! He will be dearly missed by his wife, family and all his wonderful friends and neighbors that he kept in constant touch with.
