Virginia May Polo

April 27, 1938 — January 6, 2017

POLO, VIRGINIA "GINNY" (nee Lull), loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Ginny was born to the late Flora and Perry Lull on April 27, 1938 in Oneonta, New York. She was the sister of Robert Lull of Laurens, NY. Ginny was a graduate from Laurens Central School and SUNY Cortland in New York. Ginny was married to John Polo, from Oneonta, NY, on December 23, 1961. Together they traveled from coast to coast for school and work before settling in Big Flats, NY to raise their family. Upon retiring in 1995, Ginny and John moved to Spring Hill, Florida. Ginny spent many years volunteering for the American Red Cross, traveling across the country to aid in disaster relief. With an adventurous spirit and a love of the outdoors, Ginny and John spent countless years hiking, camping, canoeing, skiing and biking. After their retirement to Florida, Ginny and John continued these adventures and traveled the world with friends and family. Nothing gave her more pleasure than entertaining her many friends in both New York and Spring Hill. She was an avid gardener and loved spending hours tending to her flowers. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John, as well as her three sons: John (Jeannette) of Danville, CA, Jeffrey, of Victor, NY, Jay (Ellen), of Warwick, RI; and two daughters, Jennifer and Johanna of Rochester, NY. She was the adored "Nonna" to her eight grandchildren, Jordan, Emma, Jaclyn, Jake, Olivia, Abigail, Dory and Caroline. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, on January 21, 2017, 10:30AM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in Ginny's name to the Alzheimer's Foundation, www.alz.org
