Walter Folke Gilchrist, 95, of Spring Hill, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 14, 2024. Walter was born in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas and Ruth Gilchrist on September 22, 1928. Walter proudly served in the US Army during World War II. He was the plant manager of Cameo Container in Chicago, Illinois. Walter was a family man and loved spending time with them especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In his spare time he liked to garden, fish, travel, play cards and go to the casino. If you were to ask Walter what his greatest accomplishment in life was, it would be being one of God’s children. He had a very strong faith and raised everyone in his family to have a personal relationship with Jesus. He has now reached his ultimate achievement in life and he’s living with the Lord in heaven. Walter is survived by his wife, Loretta Gilchrist, of 73 years. They were sweethearts since childhood and she was the love of his life. The one thing he wanted to be remembered by was his long marriage with his beautiful wife. Other survivors are his five children, Vickie Jenkins, Scott Gilchrist, Jill Graham (Gary), Paul Gilchrist (Yolanda), and Joe Gilchrist (Alexis). He was also survived by 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
