Josephine Mancuso Marano

Josephine "Jaye" Mancuso Marano, age 91 of Spring Hill, FL, formerly of Waterbury, CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 17, 2012, at Crown Pointe Assisted Living of Spring Hill, FL. She was the widow of Martin Marano. The daughter of the late Domenic and Calogera Cardillo Mancuso, she was born in Pittsfiled, MA. She moved to Waterbury, CT with her family and attended local schools. She worked for Scovill Manufacturing in Waterbury where she was the Bond Girl during World War II. She then went to work at Uniroyal in Naugatuck, retiring as a supervisor in the stitching department. Upon her retirement she moved to Spring Hill, FL and was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Parish. She was active at St. Francis Cabrini in CCW. She belonged to the widowed and singles club and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She was active in the St. Jude council 6383 and on the board of directors of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. She volunteered her services at Oak Hill Hospital, the Evergreen Woods & Blood Bank and the RSVP School System. She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses. Donna M. Gaula and her husband Donald of Spring Hill, FL, Claudia Brickel and her husband John of Watertown, CT; seven grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Lisa Braithwaite and her husband Michael of Spring Hill, FL, Laura Brower and her husband Eric of Chesapeake, VA, John M. Brickel and his wife Kerry of Watertown, CT. Elizabeth Gruchacz and her husband Michael of Sterling, VA, Martin Brickel and his fiancee Kat Demore of Watertown, CT, Marcie Brickel and Moira Brickel of Sterling, VA; six great grandchildren; her brother Valentino Mancuso and his wife Eleanor of Waterbury, CT; and her sister Mary Mastroianni of Fairfield, CT; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother's Angelo Mancuso, Joseph Mancuso and Salvator Mancuso. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:30am, Saturday, January 26, 2013 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. The family suggests memorial donations may be made to HPH Hospice or St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.
