CHARLES T. GALLAGHER

December 2, 1921 — July 28, 2013

GALLAGHER, CHARLES T. 91, of Spring Hill, passed away July 28, 2013 peacefully at home. He was born December 2, 1921 in Schenectady, NY, the son of James and Myrtle(McKeown) Gallagher. In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years, Beatrice and his two brothers, James and William. Charles had a rewarding career at General Electric Co. in Schenectady, starting off as a messenger, graduating from the Apprentice Program and proceeding to various management positions retiring at 55 as an OSHA Specialist in 1977. He was a proud veteran of WWII serving in the US Army Air Corps. After moving to Spring Hill in 1979, Charles drove for Commercial Carrier Corp, and helped build I-75, then fully retired in 1984. In the spring of 2005,at the age of 84, Charles attended Saint Leo University in St. Leo, FL and loved the attention he received by being the oldest student on campus. He was active in his church, St. Joan of Arc. He was a member of American Society of Safety Engineers, GE Apprentice Alumni, GE Quarter Century Club, American Legion, Elks Lodge, Knights of Columbus, Pontiac-Oakland Club Int'l, American Truck Historical Society and a long time supporter of St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, MT. Charles is survived by his children, daughter, Mary Anne Gallagher, Ridge Manor, FL, son, James T. (Regina) Gallagher, Williamsville, NY and son, Michael C. Gallagher, Spring Hill, FL; 3 grandchildren, Kelly (James) Wrightson, Freeland, WA, Timothy Gallagher, N. Tonawanda, NY, and Erin Gallagher, Williamsville, NY, great grandson, Carson Wrightson and great granddaughter, Victoria Pasternack, Williamsville, NY; and his dear friend, Evelyn Inderberg, Spring Hill. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to St. Labre Indian School, Ashland, MO 59004, www.stlabre.org, donation calls to 1-866-753-5496. Visitation at Pinecrest Funeral Chapel, Mariner Boulevard, Friday, August 2, 2-4 & 6-8PM. Funeral Mass on Saturday, 11:30AM, St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens.
